Global emergence of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae co-carrying multiple carbapenemases

The emergence of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) co-carrying multiple carbapenemases is complicating clinical treatment. This study aimed to investigate the global dissemination trends CRKP strains that co-carry carbapenemases. isolate KP424 blaNDM-1 and blaKPC-2, recovered from a stool specimen, was identified by NG-Test Carba 5 test, genome sequence further determined using Nanopore MinION Illumina NovaSeq 6000 technologies. sequences carrying carbapenemase genes were retrieved NCBI GenBank database. Thirteen antimicrobial resistance genes, including have been in KP424, with blaKPC-2 located on different plasmids. In total, 832 two Strains both blaNDM blaOXA-48-like accounted for 665 (79.9%) total strains, ranking first, those blaKPC 103 (12.4%), second. prevalence increased significantly over time, 0.40% 2010 9.67% 2021. proportion has also increased, 0.00% 4.40% had highest (66.7%, 52/78) China, while worldwide. Multiple-carbapenemase producers pose great threat public health; research mechanisms underlying gene occurrence required prevent their dissemination.
